This shot only works near the winter solstice. In summer, daylight saving pushes dusk well beyond office hours — by the time the sky is right, the workers are long gone and the skyline has lost its sparkle.
From Milsons Point, ferries cross constantly at peak hour. This panorama required three consecutive long exposures — roughly 30 seconds of clear water. At Circular Quay, that is not a given.
