This photograph required considerable patience and, admittedly, obsessive persistence. Over a dozen attempts failed — forecasted cirrus clouds that never materialised, optimal light that passed before they arrived, formations drifting in from unexpected directions. The precise conditions this image needed proved elusive for several weeks.
The experience gave new meaning to Edison's axiom: 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.
