Five-metre swell and strong winds at Bombo Quarry — though I'd somehow missed the wind warning. A handful of other photographers had braved it too. Four had set up in a careful line well back from the edge, until a gust took one of their tripods and sent it and the camera onto the rocks. The expletive needed no translation. We all stared ahead in silent solidarity and kept shooting.
This image came minutes later — the warm light gone, purple dusk settling over the basalt.
